Danish heavy metal band, King Diamond, Headlines at Riverside Theater in Milwaukee.
One of the most recognizable heavy metal singers and bands, King Diamond, performed last Friday at Riverside Theater in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. With special guest vocals from Myrkur and openers Overkill and Night Demon, King Diamond embarked on "The Saint Lucifer’s Hospital 1920" on October 15th in San Antonio, hitting Milwaukee on November 8th, and concluding the tour on December 6th in Dallas.

King Diamond's Setlist goes as follows;
"Arrival"
"A Mansion in Darkness"
"Halloween"
"Voodoo"
"Spider Lilly"
"Sleepless Nights"
"Welcome Home"
"The Invisible Guests"
"The Candle"
"Masquerade of Madness"
"Electro Therapy"
"Eye of the Witch"
"Burn"
Encore:
"Abigail"

On the first day of King Diamond's "Saint Lucifer’s Hospital 1920” tour in San Antonio, the band unveiled two new songs, which they added to the setlist: “Spider Lilly” and “Electro Therapy.” This release has been their first since their 2019 release of “Masquerade of Madness,” offering fans attending the San Antonio show the first reaction to these songs, which would be played for the rest of their tour. Both songs run for around four minutes, with each adding on to the theatrical yet metal performance King Diamond is known for. While it has been a long 17 years for fans since King Diamond's last album release, many fans are looking forward to the release of their newest album, "The Institute," which is called to be released in 2025 after being initially spoken about in 2019; possibly delayed via the pandemic.
The most notable aspect of their performance is their theatrical aspect, melding metal music and theater together. Even without really understanding the "lore" of King Diamond, anyone can appreciate the visual aspects of this band. As smoke filled the venue, the curtains rose to a view of an intricate yet spooky hospital setting. Diamond emerged from the set and approached a casket with the name "Abigial" written on it (presumably connecting to their encore song, Abigial in addition to their first album which is named the same?). As he pulled out the doll from the casket, the rest of the band emerged. Andy LaRocque and Mike Wead playing guitar, Pontus Egberg on the bass, and Matt Thompson covering the drums.
In addition to these members, Myrkur (a solo black metal project by Danish singer Amalie Bruun) played the keyboard and offered backing vocals as she joins the band for this tour. Although she stayed pretty stationary at her spot on the left to the drums, her vocals and playing were invaluable.
After their performance at Riverside Theater, which was smack dab in the middle of their North American tour, King Diamond has 17 more performances before concluding this portion of their tour. After this, the band has various performances outside the U.S., such as Mexico City, Mexico, Sölvesborg, Sweden, and additional locations you can find on their website.
