Summer of ’99 and Beyond Festival at Alpine Valley Music Theatre in East Troy, Wisconsin was held on July 18 and 19, 2025. This festival offered a heavy dose of late‑’90s and early‑2000s rock nostalgia, co‑headlined by Nickelback and Creed, with a stacked supporting cast.

Day One, Friday, July 18 (Nickelback headliner)

Friday opened with a strong set from Our Lady Peace, followed by welcomed performances from Daughtry, Tonic, Lit, and Live. The vibe was nostalgic, with each band reviving their radio (or CD) anthems with enthusiastic crowd engagement. The audience, from the expected millennials and Gen‑X along with a small younger crowd sang along to each lyric like they were living their youth again.

When Nickelback hit the stage, the festival exploded, with the venue seemingly doubling in occupation out of nowhere. Opening with “San Quentin,” then powering through “Savin’ Me” and “Far Away,” the band slayed expectations with a high‑energy, visually dramatic set. Tracks were punctuated by lighting and big video screens, reinforcing their arena-show feel.

Day Two, Saturday, July 19 (Creed headliner)

Saturday delivered heavier alt/rock power. The day followed with impactful sets from A Day To Remember, Sevendust, Mammoth WVH, Hinder, Vertical Horizon, and Fuel. Each band brought its own flavor, from rock ballads to heavier metal inspired riffs. The energy (and crowdedness) escalated toward Creed’s headliner slot.

Creed took the stage amid a cinematic build‑up, ambient wind sounds, flashes on the LED screens, and rising tension from fans. Then it erupted: opener “Bullets,” followed by a soul‑stirring sequence of “Ode,” “Torn,” “Are You Ready,” and more. Scott Stapp was magnetic, leaning into every note, and standing center stage as the crowd responded fervently.

The encore was a payoff with the iconic, “One Last Breath” and “My Sacrifice.” reviving the late night crowd. The show was not just a concert, but a full‑blown rock production with pyro and bright visuals.

Venue & Production

Alpine Valley Music Theatre outdoor amphitheater with pavilion and lawn, provided solid acoustics and an immersive staging platform. Lighting rigs, video walls, and pyro enhanced both nights. The venue’s layout allowed expansive views even from the lawn, and VIP and party deck options elevated the experience. Though from the further lawn area, you couldn’t see much, even with the screens, the music could be heard from way outside festival grounds.

Final Thoughts

The Summer of ’99 and Beyond Festival hit a sweet spot for folks craving a weekend long rock flashback. Day 1 built momentum with ‘00s-era sets and a strong performance from Nickelback. Day 2 closed hard with Creed leading a thunderous alt‑rock celebration.

For fans of post‑grunge and nostalgic rock, this two‑day event lived up to its name.
