Hinder, an American rock band from Oklahoma City, blew Milwaukee away with their performance at The Rave on Friday (2/28). Formed in 2001, the rock band initially gained widespread popularity with their debut album, "Extreme Behavior," in 2005, which featured hit singles like "Lips of an Angel" and "Get Stoned." Known for their post-grunge and hard rock sound, Hinder has gone through several lineup changes over the years but has continued to produce music and tour.

Their Setlist goes as follows;

Get Stoned

Homecoming Queen

How Long

Without You

Everything Is a Cult

By the Way

Use Me

Shine
(Collective Soul cover)

What Ya Gonna Do

2 Sides of Me

Better Than Me

Live Without It

King of the Letdown

Bring Me Back to Life

All American Nightmare

Lips of an Angel

The show itself began at around 7:30 with opening acts, Kingdom Collapse, a rock band originating in Texas, and Saliva, another rock band who originated from Tennessee. The openers were both strong, and I was impressed by their stage presence. Saliva especially spoke to me, their music a mix of hard rock and metal, their ability to hone in the large audience and get them screaming every lyric blew me away. The aforementioned band also brought up a fan on stage for their hit song, “Click Click Boom” which was one of my favorites.

After the openers, Hinder began their set at around 9:30ish, but even with the later start time, fans were screaming and pushing forward to see the band. I’ve heard a few of the bands songs, (I don’t think there’s anyone older than 20 who hasn’t heard Lips of an Angel) but I was mostly unaware of their other songs. As an “outsider” to the band, I definitely would say “Homecoming Queen” is one of their best. The band was great, and fans seemed thrilled with every song they played. Hinder definitely embodies the “sound” of 2000’s rock, and feels like a throwback to listen to. Even with the changes in lineups over the years (which some could argue have changed the “badass” vibes of Hinder to more of a Rock n’ Roll boy-band), you can’t argue that the band is able to hold their own and delivers a nostalgic show that fans keep coming back to.
