The Killswitch Memories Tour

Amsterdam Bar & Hall // 6.16.26

On a warm Tuesday evening in downtown Saint Paul, the atmosphere inside Amsterdam Bar & Hall felt like a gathering place for people seeking a moment of sound and reflection. The June 16th stop of The Killswitch Memories Tour brought Flawed Mangoes and Scarlet House together for an evening that leaned heavily into mood, texture, and emotional resonance.

With a reputation as one of the Twin Cities' premier intimate music venues, Amsterdam Bar & Hall sets the perfect scene for tonight's concert. Walking through a set of large doors transports you into an area of booths, tables, and a large bar lined with shelves of a variety of alcohol, all in perfect view of a large stage. By the time the night started, food and drink orders were abundant and the hall was filled to the brim.

Opening the night was Scarlet House, the solo project of musician Kameron Odums, originating from Charlotte, North Carolina. Odums draws heavily from his own life experiences, including overcoming cancer and homelessness. Those experiences have shaped a songwriting style that feels raw, vulnerable, and deeply human. His story of resilience has cultivated songs that resonate deeply with his audience.

Scarlet House opened the night with a set full of emotion and intensity. His mix of shoegaze, grunge, and modern alternative rock immediately connected with the crowd. The room remained active as Odum’s vocals created a sense of vulnerability that resonated throughout the venue. Rather than simply warming up the audience, Scarlet House established a mood that set the stage perfectly for the headlining act. The setlist contained a variety of songs, mostly released from his 2024 album, Homecoming.

When Flawed Mangoes finally took the stage, the transition felt seamless. Each member appeared with flashing lights strapped to their foreheads, transforming them into wandering beacons moving through the haze above the stage. The lights complemented the music's dreamy character. As the room darkened, the blinking beams traced arcs through the fog and reflected off instruments and into the audience.

Flawed Mangoes is the project of musician and producer Evan Lo. His blend of ambient electronics, post-rock, shoegaze, and instrumental guitar music has earned a devoted online following. Lo began as a guitarist before expanding into electronic production, developing a sound built around looping guitar melodies, textured synthesizers, and cinematic soundscapes.

The audience responded positively to the intimacy of Flawed Mangoes sound. Conversations faded. Phones remained raised in live mode. The mellow energy became contagious, and the venue settled into a rare state of collective unity. Crescendos arrived like ocean waves rather than thunderclaps, washing over the room before receding into quieter passages. “Yo, moshing at a Flawed Mangoes show is crazy. I love you guys.” Lo proclaimed as the audience danced along during the heavier moments. Instead of focusing on one single sound, they played a variety of songs from throughout the years.

Flawed Mangoes and Scarlet House delivered a night of thoughtful, immersive music that left the crowd floating gently back into the Saint Paul night.
