Underoath, an American rock band known for their unique blend of post-hardcore and metalcore, characterized by heavy guitar riffs, intense drumming, and a mix of clean and screaming vocals. Underoath gained significant popularity with their albums "They're Only Chasing Safety" (2004) and "Define the Great Line" (2006), both of which received critical acclaim and commercial success. Their music often explores themes of faith, personal struggles, and emotional turmoil, resonating with a dedicated fan base. After a brief hiatus, they reunited and released their album "Erase Me" in 2018, marking a return to the music scene. Now the band is set to release a new album, and soon.
Their new album, "The Place After This One" which was announced Febuaray 14th, is set to release on March 28th via MNRK Heavy. The band has released a handful of tracks from the album, some noteable ones being, "Generation No Surrender,", "Teeth," and most recently, “All The Love Is Gone” which was released with a music video;
When speaking about the new album, Guitarist Tim McTague mentioned, “The Place After This One is a multi-faceted idea. The fact that we grew up so sheltered and spiritual, and are trying to reconcile how we grew up against what we see now in the new age. Underoath, albeit intact and the same, is simultaneously so different. Our band has gone through a lot of chaos. I think there’s something beautiful about the idea of not just abandoning everything when things get weird. Whether it be your faith, or your band, or your marriage, or your relationships. The idea that there is a place after this one, even if it’s with the same people or it’s with the same God, or it’s with the same town. Things compound when it’s good, and you just cut out the things that are bad."
Blending their iconic heavy style, with newer electronic parts, the band continues to push the norms and what's expected of them, making this album something that can't be missed.
