Last Friday on Valentines Day, Indie-Rock Band, Good Kid, performed a completely sold out show at Turner Hall Ballroom Milwaukee. The venue, known for promoting established and up-and-coming artists, opened their doors at 7 for the band, with the room of the sold-out show quickly filling up. As it nearly reached 8, the ballroom was packed with mostly teens and young adults dressed in band shirts, ripped jeans, and a whole lot of pink for the holiday.
The opener for the band and supporter for the whole of the "Good Kid Chaos Tour" is Phoneboy. The alternative rock band from New Jersey, consisting of singer-guitarists Wyn Barnum and Ricky Dana, bassist James Fusco, and keyboardist Jordan Torres, took the stage at around 8 to screaming fans. Although I was unaware of this band, you could tell that Good Kid fans weren't; instead, they were screaming the lyrics and dancing. Phoneboy held their own well, impressively creating energy within the room, especially since they've only been active since 2018.

After Phoneboy's decently long set, fans grew anxious for Good Kid, screaming anytime someone walked on stage, even for the crew. After maybe twenty minutes or so the band, consisting of lead vocalist Nick Frosst, drummer Jon Kereliuk, bassist Michael Kozakov, and guitarists David Wood and Jacob Tsafatinos, walked on stage, with screaming following.
The band played all their hits, new songs, old songs, and even some unreleased songs. Their Setlist goes as follows;
No Time To Explain
Alchemist
Bubbly
Tell Me You Know
Down with the King
Witches
Slingshot
Break
Second Rate Town
Staying Warm (unreleased song)
Faster
Nomu
Orbit
Premier Inn
Ground
Dance Class
Aloe Lite
Summer
Encore:
Madeleine
From the Start (Laufey cover)
Mimi's Delivery Service

Founded in 2015 in Toronto, Ontario, the still-pretty-new band has grown a large following since the release of their EP Good Kid 3 on April 14, 2023, and the release of a cover of Laufey's "From the Start" on March 27, 2024., which has grown to 100 million+ Spotify listens since the release.
The band, to me, was special with their different quirky choices, which made the show unique. With their "techy-visuals" on the screens behind them, the crowd's strange enthusiasm for a lamp they brought out for an acoustic song (maybe there is some lore on this... or Milwaukee just really likes lamps.) and their game-show-type segment where they brought out this big wheel dubbed "The Wheel Of Chaos," which a fan spun and ended up with one of the singers in a Miku cosplay (also unsure of the correlation with the band, but the fans seemed thrilled with the outcome, so what do I know?).

Overall, this band has a unique and quirky-alternative vibe (and somewhat punk aspect?) brings out the best in their show, making it a worth-while experience even for those, (like me), who aren't as familiar with their songs.
