80's Rock and Roll tribute band, Hairball, returned to Green Bay, offering all the classics.

Green Bay lit up last weekend with one of the most unique tribute bands rock has seen. In a little over two hours, tribute band, Hairball, covers all of the most iconic rock and roll songs and bands from the 80s. Ending November with a bang, Hairball performed on Saturday, November 30, at The Epic Event Center in Green Bay. This performance and their opener, Area All Stars, benefited The Tommy Foundation: "Proceeds are used to buy instruments for local school-age kids to foster their burgeoning musical endeavors."

The band, originating from Minnesota, consists of bassist Brain "HBK," lead guitarist "Happy," drummer Billy, and, most uniquely, three lead singers, Kris Vox, Drew Heart, and Dave Moody. 2024 will celebrate Hairballs 24th year playing for hundreds of thousands of rock and roll enthusiasts. With shows lined up all the way to August 2025, this band takes no break delivering packed performances that pay tribute to the greatest rock hits of all time.

Each hairball show is different, with 25-30 songs. Some songs you can expect at a Hairball concert include:

Won't Get Fooled Again (The Who)

Wild Side (Mötley Crüe)

Rock and Roll All Nite (KISS)

Rock of Ages (Def Leppard)

Separate Ways (Worlds Apart) (Journey)

No More Mr. Nice Guy (Alice Cooper)

Let's Go Crazy (Prince)

I Wanna Rock (Twisted Sister)

Paradise City (Guns N’ Roses)

No More Tears (Ozzy Osbourne)

Another One Bites the Dust (Queen)

What makes this band special isn't just their likeness to classic bands (though impressively accurate, making you forget you're not at the real thing...); instead, it's the quick changes of bands that turn one concert into ten. Kris Vox, Drew Heart, and Dave Moody all take turns changing into the most iconic rock singers of the decade as the lighting changes to match. AC/DC, KISS, Mötley Crüe, Guns N' Roses—the list goes on. When you're at a hairball concert, you're not just seeing a cover band; you're being taken back to the 80s and seeing multiple shows you won't forget.

Not just performing on a small scale, you can expect pyro, smoke "guns," balloons exploding confetti, (as shown below). Watching the audience, there was enthusiasm from all who were there. What was surprising to me was the diversity of age in their concert.

One would expect it would be mostly filled with those who lived during the 80s to appreciate the music and want to hear it live again, but you would be mistaken. There were people of all ages, with younger children singing just as hard. And I think that partially what Hairball is trying to do is not just a reminder of the 80s (and some 70s); instead, it's taking a group of people together to appreciate the foundation of rock and roll as a whole.

If you are planning to, or now wanting to go to a Hairball concert, you're in luck. For local options, Riverside Theater in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, Saturday, Jan 11, 2025, at 8:00 PM. Tickets are $25.00 - $45.00 and most definitely worth the price. (Though I would recommend some earbuds if you have sensitive ears.)

Other touring dates are on Hairball's website, with plenty of dates; you'll have to make one. Hairball puts on an incredible show with their high-energy performances and spot-on renditions of classic rock hits. Be sure to grab your tickets soon before they sell out!
