The Rave in Milwaukee became a power house for all things metal on September 16, 2025, as Mudvayne, accompanied by Static-X and Vended, delivered a night of nu and industrial-metal intensity that boomed far beyond the venue's walls.

Mudvayne, originating 1996 in Illinois, has always been more than just a band; known for their crazy face paint and experimental music, blending complex rhythms with Chad Gray's unmistakable vocal delivery and a visual identity that challenges the norm. Their performance pushed the fact that their reunion isn't just a nostalgia trip, it's a reaffirmation of their place in the metal landscape.

A fan attending Tuesday’s show mentioned, “This is most alive I’ve seen The Rave in a long time… I mean, I’m bruised up, but like- totally worth it.”

Vended, the fresh blood on the bill (founded in 2018), injected a shot of fresh metal energy into the early crowd. Fronted by Griffin Taylor, the band showcased a raw intensity and undeniable talent that hints at a promising future for the band.

Static-X followed, delivering a set of industrial-tinged metal that celebrated  the album, Wisconsin Death Trip, and its 25th Anniversary Corrosive Edition. The band's signature blend of driving rhythms and electronic textures set the stage for the main event.

When Mudvayne took the stage, the fans went wild. Launching into "Dig," the band unleashed a wave of sound that ignited the crowd. The mosh pit became a swirling vortex of bodies, crowdsurfing becoming a near constant, especially when Chad Gray jumped up to the barricade. Fans pushed and crowd surfed to the front, singing, or more realistically screaming each lyric as the got closer to the singer.

The band's musicianship was on full display as they went through the more intricate arrangements on tracks like "Death Blooms" and "Internal Primates Forever."

Mudvayne proved that their music remains as relevant and potent as it was in 1996, solidifying their status as pioneers in the world of nu-metal.
